Mommy & Baby have had a busy week!
Last week we:
- Toured the Hospital – it’s great…everything is brand new
- Found a pediatrician – we meet him soon
- And secured a spot at daycare – check out how cute it is
At about 10.5 inches in length and almost 11 ounces in weight, the baby is about the size of a large banana.
By now, she swallows at least several ounces of amniotic fluid each day not only for hydration and nutrition, but also to practice swallowing and digesting skills she will need as soon as she makes her entrance into this big world.. And keep this in mind: The taste of the amniotic fluid differs from day to day depending on what I’ve eaten (lots of Mexican food and Macaroni & Cheese). And that smorgasbord of tastes won’t be lost on the baby. That’s because my little one has very developed taste buds already. In fact, researchers have noted that babies who were exposed to certain tastes in utero via the amniotic fluid were more eager to eat foods with that same taste after birth. Gonna try my hardest not to have a picky little one!
With all the belly dancing that’s going on, it’s hard to believe she gets any sleep at all. But believe it or not, the baby sleeps as much as a newborn, perhaps 12 to 14 hours per day! I’m not feeling a lot of kicking yet, just little “bubbles”.
There’s a saying: ‘Little pitchers have big ears’. The baby can now hear my conversations. She should be able to recognize my voice right away, with all the talking I do. I’m also exposing her to my favorite music everyday at work and in the car.

Hey girl!!! I just checked the sonagram pics out! WOW! Remember when someone used to show you a sonagram picture and you were like “I can’t see anything”. You can actually see a baby now:) LOL I am still waiting for pics of a pregnant Shelli:) I am sure you are gorgeous!! I always think pregnant women are the cutest. Wonder if I will feel that way when I am pregnant….Probably not:)
By the way, I noticed that the name Jaclyn (spelled that way) made the baby name list. I think that is a sign:) LOL
